Elite Performance Gymnastics
These classes cater for gymnasts who have shown potential in the recreational classes and have been invited to join one of the development or competition squads through a trial process.
They are also open to accomplished gymnasts moving into the area from another club. In this case you will be interviewed by the head coach to determine your level and placed in the correct class.
Hours range from 4 to 20 per week, possibly increasing during half terms and school holidays. The aim for gymnasts in these squads is to go on and represent the club in competitions at County, Regional and National level. Details of when the squads train can be found on the club timetable.
Development Squads are for the younger gymnasts who we have identified as possible talent. The Squads are used to introduce the gymnasts to comprehensive training regimes and determine their suitability both physically and mentally to real gymnastics training.
Competition Squads are for older, seasoned gymnasts who are dedicated to achieving their best and competing at county, region and national levels.
** Both Development & Competition Squads require a significant committment to the training regime including mandatory competitions at internal and external venues, County and Regional training sessions (if you are picked), and continued, sustained training at your assigned times. We expect gymnasts to be prompt for class, properly attired with all requisite sundries (guards, loops, drinks etc).
